We had to get up early this morning because we had to catch the seven thirty boat into Washington. The whole family but Lawrence were up to see us off. We took some pictures before we left. I was so sleepy that I almost went to sleep on the way in. A good looking Lt. helped us get our bags off the boat. Mom and Pop were at the dock to meet us. First we went over to the camp where they stayed last night and got rid of some of our stuff. From there we went to the monument and then dashed over to the Capital. We got there just as a guide was starting out. They took us about an hour and then from there we went to the Congressional Library. By the time we got out of there we were so tired that we decided to go for a ride before lunch. We met Clare at the Allies Inn at twelve thirty. After lunch we all went out to Arlington Cemetery (after getting lost). We looked up Gene’s grave while we were there. We spent most of the afternoon there. When we came back we went to Clare’s for dinner. After dinner we took a ride then Pop and Mom went back to the camp and the Berries took us to the show and we’re staying with them tonight.
