We sight saw today and we didn’t do it half way. We got up early and had breakfast and caught the seven thirty boat into the city. As soon as we landed we started out for the Smithsonian Institute. We tramped around in there from one hall to another until eleven and I’ll say the dogs were tired. At eleven we went for a short ride to cool off before lunch. Last night I called up Clare Berry and made a date with her to have lunch together. So at twelve we went to the Hotel Washington to meet her. She took us to the Allies Inn. There was our family and Anna and Lucile (Gene’s fiancé, the darlingest [sic] girl who is staying wit them too) and Clare and her chum and her mother and father, making ten of us trooping in for lunch. After that we went to an art gallery across from it and then on to the Annual Collection back at the museum. At about five the Berries left us and we rode around the Lincoln Memorial. At five thirty we went back to the Allies Inn for supper. After supper we went to the Fox where we met the Conners and went to the show. It’s about ten thirty but I’m just about dead and my butt.......
Jane's Notes: The Smithsonian obviously didn't impress her.
