Thursday, July 25, 1929 - Elyria, Ohio

Pop got us up at six this morning. We were staying at an old fashioned hotel and we had breakfast in the dinning room. It certainly must have been a grand place in it’s day. I loved it. We got started about eight. It had rained early in the morning and it was very gray all morning. For awhile it was raining so hard that we could hardly see ahead. About eleven thirty we had a soft time so while we were stopped we had lunch at a green lunch wagon. It was in a little town in the corner of Penn. that sticks up. We went thru Buffalo and Erie this morning and for awhile we followed the Lake Erie shore. You can’t anymore see across it than you can an ocean. In the afternoon it got quite warm. About five when the traffic was worst we hit Cleveland. And we had to go from one end to the other about fifteen miles. So we were late about seven when we got to Pop’s Powell Cousins, Ed, Arthur, May and Terry. They’re about his age. We talked until twelve. June and I stayed with Ed and his wife Hat, and Mom & Pop with Art & May (another sister).
