Saturday, July 13, 1929, Bridgeton, NY

We intended to leave at eight this morning and it was 8:15 when we started which is pretty good considering our late departures of late. Just as we were finishing breakfast Steve came in to say goodbye. On the way out we went thru the Academy grounds so June could see it. We saw them drilling the Plebes. We started out for Vineland. But because of traffic and one thing and another we didn’t make it. It took us an hour to get thru Baltimore. The streets certainly are narrow in town but just as we were leaving there we hit the side road and we certainly had a beautiful hi way the rest of the way. We came thru the corner of Delaware and had lunch at Wilmington, Delaware's largest city. We got to Philly as they call it around here about three. We were lucky enough to pick up a cop just going off duty who took us the right way to Independence Hall and showed us the way out. We got to Vineland the place we might put Eleanor at about five or six by daylight savings. They invited us to supper and showed us around a bit after. The Supervisor advised us to come here because the hotel was better.
