Tuesday, July 30, 1929 - Chicago, Ill.

We were late in getting up, late in getting breakfast and it was Noon before we got started. We just sat around and talked trying to decide what to do. We were going to the “five and ten” but Edwin (Lottie’s son that we didn’t see in Laurence) and Harry who had stayed at Douglas’, didn’t arrive on the scene until almost twelve so we had lunch before we started out. When we finally got started we went to the “Malbaro” to see “Noah’s Ark”. It was a wonderful picture and a beautiful play house. Then we went on down to the Loop back to Marshal Fields. This time we went all thru the store and ended up at the tea room eating ice cream. Mania, Lottie, Aunt Hortie and Douglas’ wife hadn’t come up, they had gone to Douglas’ to get supper. We went there from Fields to supper. After supper there was much singing and noise until ten thirty. Then Doug, Pop and I took Lottie, Ruth and Shirley to the station. (Shirley had made a flop of it so she was going home). They left Ed with Harry. Pop and I parted from Doug at the “L”. He went home and we back to Aunt Hortie’s.
