March 31, 1932 - Thursday

Today I didn’t accomplish very much. I studied for exam before my 11 o’clock. Went downtown after lunch with Jeanne. Took exam at 7:30. Studied with George until 10:30. Got my Econ.

This has certainly been a full month. All kinds of weather. Started in winter weather and yesterday was almost like summer. There was exams, a wonderful vacation in Portland, beginning of spring term and I am going back to the lake!

George's letter home:

Dear Mother,

It was quite a surprise to see Dad walk in the front door the other evening. He had dinner with us and then I showed him through the house. He thought it was much nicer than the other one, but I don’t think he thought a great deal of my room. My room doesn’t even have carpets on the floor now, because Stan took them all into his new room. It is quite a barren room, to say the least. Anne and I went to the show with Dad, and all in all, we had a very nice visit.

I am going to make an appointment with the dentist for Saturday, and I am not expecting a very enjoyable time.

Yesterday was just a wonderful day here, and all the kids sprung out in their new spring clothes. I wish you would send me my white flannels just as soon as you find it convenient, Mom. The campus is just beautiful; all the shrubs are in blossom and the trees are all in tiny leaf.

After this I would rather not have my shirt collars starched; I don’t think that is such a good idea after all.

I had to spend the whole evening cheering a very homesick little girl up last night. I have never seen anyone quite so depressed in my life. One of the Alpha Phi’s lent me her car, and I took Anne for along ride. Oy --- such a power I have, ---- she is a very happy girl again.

March 30, 1932 - Wednesday

I was a bay tonight. After dinner I got blue and home sick and when Geore called and didn’t say he was coming over I cried. He came over anyway and by the time he left at ten thirty I was laughing.
