May 30, 1931 - Saturday
I got right into my bathing suit from PJ’s this morning.
Right after lunch went to see Adele at infirmary. Then swam down from
Anchorage. At seven went to another show then for long ride with a SAE.

May 29, 1931 - Friday
What a hot, hot day. It was too hot to move. I didn’t do a thing
all day that I couldn’t help until after dinner. Then I went to the show. At
ten I went for the most heavenly swim.

Lab was longer than usual and I went to the library after that. We had Eugene

May 27, 1931 – Wednesday
Well my last date with the dentist for awhile was today.
After gym changed my room around. The freshmen were gone so we had men for desert.
I had Gene Grady. After we did Report writing.
Jane’s Note: Jean Grady (odd spelling for a man and I’m sure
that Mom assumed it was spelled Gene) eventually married “Doro” and the couple
were best friends with Ann and George all their lives. He was a Chi Psi with
George so I’m assuming that Mom knew Dad as well at this point although Dad
always said he didn’t remember her until they met at Crater Lake in the summer
of 1931.

May 26, 1931 - Tuesday
Went to the dentists again. He stretched my mouth out of
shape about. I have to have special brush and paste. Made an awful break and
forgot Don was coming and went to show with Jeanne! “The Bachelor Father”.
Swell.

Dear Folks,
The big political doings are all over now and our side won
the whole works; the whole ticket went in. I was appointed chairman of the
election board and so of course I got the first returns. Oh boy am I glad. That
means that I get the Sophomore Informal next year; then I can run for Junior
President.
Yesterday was Fletcher’s birthday so we threw him in the
mill race. I got a couple of pictures of him as he was going in the water, and
I can hardly wait until the roll is all used up and I can have the things
developed.
If I had only known that you were going to Bend a little
sooner I could have been there with you; Harlo Allan is going up there and I
could have ridden with him. As it is, we are having the Frosh Picnic this
weekend and I have a date for that. We are not going to the beach after all as
the whole works has been called off.
Well now I can do a little studying for a change, the
weather is cool, there are no more politics in the limelight, and I feel in the
mood to study too. So here goes now for the rest of the term and just as hard
as I can too.
Boy it will surely seem good to be home for a while and be
with you; I still maintain that home is far superior to college.
A bunch of girls from one of the opposing houses took Neil
Bush and I away out in the country today so that we couldn’t get people to vote
for our side. Boy were we mad; the only reason we went with them was because
they told us they would take us to Neil’s house and let us off. Well son-of-a-gun if they didn’t take us
clear out on the highway and keep us there for two hours. Darn these women
anyway; I sure hope you weren’t that way mother. I doubt if you were though
because you always tell me to watch my old step around the little girlys (sic).
Well just watch me watch my step from now on; no girl will ever take me again
if I have anything to say about it.
News is out except that I am sending a picture of our
entrant in the canoe fete. This picture was taken just before we launched the
thing and its sail is still furled.
Love, George.
