Mrs. Mal. told us unofficially that we would have no further Math assignments! Rah! Nothing in Civics, English or spanish but, the bomb shell came in Physics where he sprang a test on us. Three tests on Friday. It has ceased to be funny. After we had lunch Helen and I were going to see the U.P. Art exhibit before school practice but it wasn’t open until three and that was just when practice began. So I went over to her house until practice. Afterwards we went to the Exhibit for twenty minutes. It was pretty good. But so immodest. We went for a short ride and then went back to Helen’s to study which we did as best we could until about twenty to seven. Then we came home and had dinner and dashed to the show. It was “New Brooms” and it was a whale of a hit. A good play and good acting. Mary Crosby also went with us and she is spending the night here.
Jane’s Notes: There is a clipping in the scrap book that lists all the plays by the Community Players for their 1928-29 season. At the top Mom wrote “I saw all of them”. Then she gave her review for each: “Broadway” - good; “Smiling Thru” - very good; “Tommy” - fair; “The Best People” - good (AB Powell, her father, appears in that one); “Laff That Off” - fair; “The Torch Bearers” - good; and “New Brooms” - very good. She writes that she went to New Brooms with the Hendricks and Dick.
