Saturday, March 9, 1929

This morning Mom and I went shopping. What a wonderful morning. I got two more new pairs of shoes, including my white kid for graduation, a new pair of stockings, some heels to match my Kimono, and some pictures. We got home about one o’clock. June spent the day at Jane’s and at one thirty she called up and said that they wanted to go to the show and could the car take them down. Mom had an errand to do also and the chauffeur wasn’t back so I took them down. We got home about twenty to three. Mom had to be at Mrs. Kenndlers to the DAR tea by three with her cake and to wrap prizes and I went with her. Bathed and dressed for a tea in 20 minutes. Worked furiously wrapping forty odd prizes until five. Then I enjoyed myself until we left about seven. We got home. June said Allen Howell had called up three times. At about quarter to eight he called again. We went to see Lon Chaney in “Laugh, Clown, Laugh” and then to the Hotel. I saw lots of people I know. Before going home we went for a long ride. Home at two fifteen.

Jane’s Notes: Laugh, Clown, Laugh is a 1928 silent film starring Lon Chaney and Loretta Young. The movie was directed by Herbert Brenon and produced and released through MGM Studios.
