It was still rough this morning and cold. After breakfast I tried the deck for awhile but I was too cold. So I cam down into the ward room and tried to read with out much success. After lunch we played the portable. About three the cry “ship ahoy” went around so Biddle Staal and I dashed up to the bridge and looked at it thru the big glass. They said it was a President boat but it looked small to me. Later we played bridge but Henry and I didn’t seem to improve any in our luck. After dinner Henry and I played double solitaire then Biddle tried to teach me chess. Then we all started in on a cross word puzzle. Just before dinner it calmed down quite a bit, altho’ a few crashes were still heard in the kitchen at times.
