Monday, April 22, 1929

I didn’t sleep much last night because the ship rolled too much. I slid from one end of the bed to the other all night long. It was rough all day, worse than yesterday. In the morning part of the time we spent running around trying to get warm. I read part of the morning but my eyes got tired. After lunch we played games, read and played the portable. After supper Henry and I took a run up to the bridge but I was so cold we came rushing down. We played bridge this afternoon. From the beginning H.S. and I have been partners and B.S. & Pop. We’re pretty evenly matched altho we haven’t done any remarkable winning. After dinner we played bridge again and we’re way down. The second officer is in his late thirties. I would say and is quite handsome in his way. He is tall and rugged. I like him very much. June calls him Peter.
