February 10, 1932 - Wednesday

This has certainly been a busy day. I got three letters from home. Right after lunch I went downtown. At two thirty went to practice at three to class. After class three errands. Dinner at Chi Psi Lodge. Swell time!

Jane's Notes: George received a letter from his Grandparents who lived in Bend. They German immigrants which you will realize when you read their broken English. His grandfather owned a butcher shop. During depression it must have been hard to make ends meet.

Dear George,

Received you kind letter, we were glad to hear from you and always do and jess if we could sell out we sure would move down in the valley. Grandpa don’t know what to do about the shop. Close up or stay open. He never makes more than $2-3 a day. He sure worries but everybody has the same. I will write to you mother today. We have more snow again. Our tulips do not come up. Even the sage brush looks good, la la. I am glad you go with a nice good girl. Carl don’t have nothing to do with his girl anymore. She had not the money to come back to school. She works in San Francisco . She want him to come for Xmas to visit her but he had not the money so she got mad him. Mother send him nice Xmas presents and he also come for his graduation in June. Well that all the news. Lindeberg have a new car.

With lot’s of love, Grandpa & Grandma.
