January 9, 1932 - Saturday

I made myself get up at nine and I studied an hour and a half before lunch. Went to the library after lunch and studied for three and a half hours more. Went to Skull & Dagger dance tonight. Late home. First time!

George's letter home:

Dear Mother,

The initiation is going to start this Sunday; and it will be a very trying one, with eleven boys going through. Sunday, January 17, I will need my tux shirt and collars; because we are having a formal dinner for the new brothers.

Anne (sic) and I are going to the Skull and Dagger dance this evening. I think we will have a very nice time; because we both know so many of the people who will be there.

I am sending my floral bill home to you, as I don’t have any gold to pay it with. Don’t expect my laundry; there wasn’t any to send.

Things are gong along just about the same; nothing has happened to write home about.  Phil Smith dropped in last night to spend a few days with us; other than that there is nothing to say.

Love, George

Jane's Notes: Scrap Book has dance card from the Skull & Dagger dance.
