January 13, 1932 - Wednesday

I didn’t have my usual afternoon class today so I wrote home until 3:45. Then I went up and bought tickets to “Journey’s End”. George came over about 4:40. ATO came over to dance after dinner.  At 8 went to Co-ed Cokers.

Jane's Notes: Journey's End is a 1928 drama, the seventh of English playwright R. C. Sherriff. It was first performed at the Apollo Theatre in London by the Incorporated Stage Society on 9 December 1928, starring a young Laurence Olivier, and soon moved to other West End theaters for a two-year run. It was included in Burns Mantle's The Best Plays of 1928–1929. The piece quickly became internationally popular, with numerous productions and tours in English and other languages. A 1930film version was followed by other adaptations, and the play influenced other playwrights, including Noël Coward.
Set in the trenches at Saint-Quentin, Aisne, in 1918 towards the end of the First World WarJourney's End gives a glimpse into the experiences of the officers of a British Army infantry company in World War I. The entire story plays out in the officers' dugout over four days from 18 March 1918 to 21 March 1918.
I don't know if Mom saw a play or a movie, but I suspect it is a plant since she purchased tickets ahead of time and didn't call it a "show".

I don't know what the term "Cokers" is referring to. It could be I just can't read Mom's handwriting and am miss spelling it.
