November 8, 1933 - Wednesday

George darling,

Please, please don’t think that I have forgotten you, dear. I have tho’t of you every moment but circumstances have been against me and this is absolutely the first opportunity that I have had to write to you since we left Ventura Sunday night and it was partly because I forgot my darn pen in Berkeley. We got here in San Diego Monday afternoon about one thirty and as soon as Alice made connections with Jack we went house hunting. They didn’t find a house that night so we had to stay with a friend of theirs. So I didn’t have a chance to write. Then yesterday Alice found a house (and it is the sweetest thing) and yesterday we moved in. Today we went over to San Diego and I got myself a pen and my letters will be regular from now on I promise you. Sweetheart, I have seen more darling little houses and sweet little babies since I have been here. It makes me so jealous. Darling, I love you! We have met quite a few of the married friends of Jack and Alice. They all seem to have children except Jack and Alice. I wish you could see this darling little house that they have taken. It is a brand new house that has never been lived in and it is completely furnished with absolutely new things. It isn’t ordinary furnished house furnishing but is very tasteful and good looking.

I have seen quite a bit of Steve since I have been here. The first night I went out to his ship to dinner and then saw the movie on board. Last night he took me down to Agua Caliente to dinner and dance. I had a wonderful time. There weren’t many people there but it’s an exciting place to go principally for the reputation that it has, I guess.  It is very gorgeous and ornate. The music is good and we had a wonderful dinner altho’ we didn’t know from the menu what we were getting.  Before we went out there last night we went over to his sister’s. She is married to a Navy aviator. She is darling and they have the sweetest baby! Alice and I had the most wonderful time the day she decided on her house and we moved in. I don’t know when I have laughed so much in one day. We had a riot.

Jack has the duty tonight so he can’t come home but Steve is coming over after supper.

Well, darling now that I have a pen and know where the ink is my letters will come thru. I love you, dear.

Annie

P.S. Excuse the mistakes and awful writing. I’m hurried.
