Your daughter is apparently in the very best of condition from the few letters received here. It seems there are plenty of opportunities not to write. It has been said that the Navy is a very hospitable outfit. Don’t worry. Ann is merely very busy with her old friends.

George L Hibbard

Darling,

At least my conscious is clear. Last night I told Steve everything. He said he had known for some time but didn’t want to admit it even to himself and that he had tried to keep me from telling him but after it was all over he said that he was glad that I had told him because if nothing else it eased his peace of mind. He said he knew before he came to Portland. He also said it would make no difference in our friendship. George, he is a wonderful person and I am sure that I don’t deserve anything as generous as his love. He is the most generous person.

Until last night I have been having dreams all night long. One awful dream that I have had several times was that I got home from my visit and there was no letters waiting for me from you. But last night I slept as peacefully as a child. I don’t know what I would do if that dream were true!

Last night we went out to dinner on the Bass – Jack’s ship. It was very interesting as well as entertaining. I have never examined a submarine so closely before. They are positively mystifying they are so complex.

I love you dear

Annie
