Dear George:
Here we are, Grandma and I, sitting in the park across from
the courthouse in Prineville. Dad is working here and we took our lunch along
and are giving Grandma a treat. She gets so tired of staying in all the time.
Granddad and I played Pinochle against Dad & Mr. Johnson
last night and we sure cleaned them. They were so disgusted and when Granddad
got 1000 aces they quit on us. I never ever before knew anyone to get 1000
aces.
I fixed all the flowerbeds yesterday. I wish our soil down
home was as nice to work in.
We are leaving Bend Thursday morning and will perhaps stay
all night in The Dalles. Will get home sometime Friday and then Dad will come
down Saturday for you. I may come with him.
Anna Grebel is going to give me a small Red Hawthorne tree.
Thought perhaps we can find a place for it when we get home. They are so
beautiful right now.
Granddad is going to buy & kill cattle. A young man from
the Oregon Market up here is going in with him. I hope it will workout for
them.
Grandma received your letter. She sure cherishes them. The Leggs
are feeding Jeff. No news. I am bringing down a graduation present for Ann.
Suppose she is wearing her sweetheart pin.
Love & Kisses, Mother
