July 6, 1932 - Wednesday

Blue, o my my my. After we got off this afternoon I hiked down to the lake all by myself. When I got back there were three darling letters from home. They got under my skin and George spent the evening cheering me up.

A letter from Dad:

Dear George,

Thanks for your birthday letter. It surely means more to me than anything you could have done. It has been a pleasure for us to do what little we have for you over this period of 20 years and we have not felt it a sacrifice but as a God given pleasure because it had been appreciated and because you have been a blessing and a joy to us and you have made us proud of you and I know that pride will continue thru the years to come. God bless you George,

Love Dad
