October 24, 1931 - Saturday

This was Dad’s day and so we were occupied with them most of the day. I got up about ten with full intentions to study but somehow I didn’t get to it. George came over in the afternoon and then about 10 tonight.

Dear Mom,

This is Dad’s Day and I surely missed not having Dad here. We tied for second place with the Alpha Phis in the number of Dads at our houses. They flipped a coin and of course the boys were unlucky as usual. It certainly was a beautiful prize; a sterling silver coffee set. Oh well, we got one trophy out of the weekend anyway; Don Thompson’s father was elected the next year’s president of the Dads Organization.

Mr. Fields took Bill and I to the Dad’s banquet tonight and just showed us a real time. He certainly is a peach.

I stayed home from the game tonight and did some heavy studying for a change; I think that I will go down to see Ann for awhile after a little bit. I am rather tired though and we are going to have a luncheon for the fathers after the game is over. I may change my mind and stay home where I belong yet.

It will surely seem fine to be home next weekend

[Two lines of type have been cut out of the letter at this point. I wonder what the rest of the paragraph said]

Love, Brother
