I certainly studied today. I had classes from 8 to 12 then I
went up at one and studied till two, had a 2 to 4 o’clock class and then
studied until 5. After Chapter Meeting I talked to Jeanne. Studied about ½ hr.
To bed early.
Letter from Ann Powell to George's mother.
Dear Mrs. Hibbard,
Because I am so far away from home your invitation to stay
with you last weekend meant even more to me than it would have to anybody else.
I so seldom get to visit in people’s homes that I more than appreciate it when
the opportunity comes. It was a wonderful chance to become better acquainted
and I certainly enjoyed your hospitality.
Sunday on the way down when we picked up Margaret Woodworth
we stopped at Newberg a little while so we didn’t get into Eugene until about six
thirty. We didn’t have any trouble at all coming down and it didn’t rain on us
altho’ it did start soon after we got here. It wasn’t a cold ride either so we
weren’t uncomfortable at all in the rumble seat.
From now until Thanksgiving every weekend there is something
doing. This weekend is our dance and next weekend is Homecoming. The campus
will be over run with Alumni and under graduates from OSC. Besides the big game,
which of course is the center of interest, they are planning all kinds of
entertainment. There will be a rally Friday night with the noise parade and the
burning of the “O”. Saturday noon will be the campus luncheon and Saturday
night the Homecoming dance. Then the weekend after that is the Chi Psi dance
and from what George says they are going to have wonderful decorations.
The girls that are working on the decorations for our dance
have been busy for several nights now but the theme of them is a secret until
tomorrow night.
It certainly was awfully good of you to have me stay with
you and I certainly appreciated it.
Sincerely,
Ann Powell
