I was thru at ten o’clock today. I read in front of the fire
most of the day. I had dinner tonight with George. Saw his cabin then came down
to the Lodge with him. We moved tonight at last, or at least half way.

George's Letter Home:
Dear Mom,
I am enclosing some pictures which were taken sometime ago,
and they certainly don’t portray present weather conditions. The snow has just
made everything white, and it is so far below freezing that Mr. Price has moved
all of us boys into the cabins. Gee, they surely are big and comfortable with a
wood stove for warmth.
Today and tomorrow I am helping with the boats. They must
all be put away on Wizard Island where the boat house is. The rowboats aren’t
so bad but the motor launches weigh a ton apiece. We have to drag them up the
way by means of a windlass, and believe me it is plenty tough. At night we have
to row a mile and a quarter back to the mainland and then walk a mile and three
quarters up to the rim.
Jean and I have decided to leave for Eugene the same day we
arrive home. We are only going to pack enough for one week because we will be
home October the third to see the Idaho – Oregon game. I can come home a day
early and get my shopping done then. So if it isn’t too much trouble for Dad,
we would like to leave the evening of the twenty-first.
Love, Brother
