George darling,
The letter that I got from you this morning was a great
relief. I was so pleased to know that you are all right. I am so glad that you
were well ahead on your work but never the less next time I see you I expect to
see you with some what of this expression (stamp
with someone in glasses). No, darling I don’t think the time is right now
to approach the question of going up to see you at Christmas. I’ll try to catch
Pop some time when he is feeling sorry for me because I am stuck way off here
in the country and that must be sometime when I have been here for quite a while
and now I have just gotten back from the city. But I will pick a very opportune
time to ask because I can’t see how I will live thru the winter if I can’t see
you sweet heart, I must.
Today was Mom’s birthday. When I was in Berkeley this last
time I got a present and June and I gave it to her together. We put Eleanor’s
name on the card too. It is a large tray with a stand about chair high so that
it can be used as a small tea table, too. Her silver just fits on it. We gave
it to her this morning at breakfast and then this evening we had three candles
in a cake standing for past, present, and future. We had candy with the cake to
add festivity to the occasion.
This morning I did some unpacking and changing around in the
bedroom that I have been planning to do for a long time but haven’t had time to
do. Remember the dresser I was going to paint? Well Pop had a professional job
on it that he did himself before I had time to get at it. I tho’t that was
mighty swell of him. I told him so, too.
I do appreciate things, dear.
One thing I appreciate particularly are your letters that I haven’t been
getting for so long.
I love you, dear,
Ann
