George and I stepped out tonight! We went to the Krazy Kopy
Krawl! And had a wonderful time – was a swell dance. We went downtown this
morning and fooled away this afternoon.

George's Letter Home:
Dear Family,
Mrs. Schloth has done her share of letter writing, and also
her share of telephoning. Every day, the letters from home are filled with
advice bearing on the subject of Scarlet Fever. It has not made a very deep
impression, however, and most of them merely laugh at the fuss that is being
made. It probably is characteristic of youth not to worry about things. I hope
I retain a lot of my youthful traits.
Initiation week is well started, and the place looks dark
and dismal with all the windows covered over with black cloth. Those that are
not to be initiated, are of course living out. I hope they all have an
opportunity to be members next spring. It must be quite hard to move out and
know that the other members of your class are to be initiated without you. It
was a great relief to me that I made my grades the first term.
Ann is fine; she has a birthday coming up on the twenty-eighth
of this month. That event is causing me no little distress, for of course I
shall want to remember her in some way or another. Woe unto me for getting
myself so mixed up so early in life (sounds like I am just a kid doesn’t it,
well probably I am). The fact remains, however, that I am always happy in her
company. I shall no doubt rob a bank before the gala event and buy her a
roadster that we can both use. She will be twenty years plus two old, and the
gruesome fact worries her to distraction. “Here I am, twenty-two years old and
I still act the part of a thirteen year old,” quoth the little lady. My, My.
I will write you
soon, probably in the middle of the week. There may be some interesting news by
that time. It is certain that there is a great lack of that stuff at present.
Love, Brother
P.S. Please send my “Parka” in my laundry bag. I will need
it this week.
