I’m a fine one forgetting my own Mom’s birthday. I spent the
afternoon downtown getting birthday presents for Mom, Pop and Eleanor. So I
studied hard in the evening to make up for it.

George's letter home:
Dear Mother,
I hope you and Dad returned home safely, for I know that it
was not an easy night to drive such a long distance. You must have, though, or
I would have heard long before now. Thank you so much for bringing us down, I
am afraid that we were more trouble than we were worth.
I have certainly put in a lot of time studying since
returning to the Lodge. Every minute of the day and evening up to midnight has
been full, and I am certainly tired of it. If you stay here all the time, it is
possible to get your work done without any trouble, but two days out puts you
way behind. Well, I am all caught up now, and I can proceed at a normal pace.
The fellows are all busy preparing for our pledge dance on
the twenty-second (next Saturday). We are going to have it in the old Lodge,
and it is going to be all worked up into a haunted barn. There will be electric
chairs and quite a spooky place. We are hiring a horse and wagon too; we are
going around to all the girls houses in it and pick our dates up that way.
Tonight, we are having the Delta Gammas down for dinner and
dancing afterwards. Tomorrow night, we are going up to the Alpha Chi Omegas for
dinner, so you see that our social calendar for this week is very full.
That is just about all the news for this time; after next
weekend I shall have lots to tell you.
Love, Brother
P.S. Remind Dad of our agreement. GLH
