June 24, 1932 - Friday

This has been a busy day. This morning I washed all my dirty clothes. The afternoon spent mending my yellow dress and my slip. The evening we spent at George’s Aunt Lid’s home. Played cards – kind of boring!

A letter from Ann:

Dearest George,

Yesterday was a big day for me because I got two letters from you. One was waiting for me when I woke up and one was waiting for me when we came home yesterday afternoon. Thank you, dear. It’s true you said that the Post Office wasn’t open and that you couldn’t get any of my letters but I want to write to you just the same. Somebody might be going down to Medford and pick them up and anyway you will get them when the Post Office does open up.

Yesterday afternoon we spent over at your Aunt Lillian’s. I like her so much, don’t you? And I just love her house! I just love where it is and I just love the house and how it is furnished. The two big fire places. The deep couch and the four-poster beds and the old fashioned desk and chairs. I think it is just darling!

I dreamed about you night before last, dear. I dreamed that you had gone to the lake and I had met George Shade downtown. He asked me out. We were sitting at a table someplace when I heard you say “Annie” believe me, we were so surprised to see you. I heard you say “Annie” so clearly that it woke me up. I tho’t it was morning and that you had called me to wake me up. There I sat up and looked around and realized it was the middle of the night and you were at the lake.

Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

Love, Ann
