March 17, 1932 - Thursday

What a grand and glorious feeling! I had my last exam this morning. George went downtown with me while I got some shoes & stockings. Washed my hair and sewed this afternoon. Went to show with Jeanne tonight. To bed at 11:30.

George's letter home:

Hello Mom,

My correspondence has taken a sudden slump in the past few weeks, as you will no doubt agree. But my humble apologies are forth coming, Mom dear.

I received my money in plenty of time to stall off the starving creditors, and now my financial status is right in the pink again.

Mrs. Wells, Jimmie’s mother, dropped in on us today and she informed us that the “mother’s club” had voted a hundred dollars toward our new radio. That will certainly be appreciated by all the boys.

My studies have been keeping me up rather late toward the end of this term; but fortunately I have nearly all of the work cleared up now. I finished a five-thousand word theme for Report Writing last night and handed it in this morning. They certainly pile the work on you down here.

I certainly will hand me a chuckle, if Malc and Ray are forced to attend school here this coming year. I suppose you have been reading all about the great upheaval in our school system. One of the new clauses provides for one school of Business Administration, to be at Oregon.  Malc and Ray are enrolled in that school at Corvallis; so you can draw your own conclusions.

I think we will leave here about noon, Friday. Stan is bringing Anne and I home, so we will be in safe company. Poor “Haby” is having a hard time with his studies. He is very low in all his grades, and I guess they worry him quite a bit.

My grades should be much better this quarter; at least they have every indication of being so. If I can just keep going, they will turn out alright.

I may not have another opportunity to write you before arriving home. I shall try to though.

Love, Brother
