We didn’t have a quiz after all but I didn’t study any more
because I did it all last night. Went to see “Old English” with Doro. She
didn’t like it much but I did.
George's Letter Home
Thursday, 21 (May, 1931)
Dear Folks,
Here it is almost time for you to go home; so I thought I
would have a letter waiting for you.
Last night we had our last political meeting before the
nominations today. This General Butler was in town last night too; so we got
him to come over to our meeting and give us a talk. Boy he surely is an
interesting character, and he gave us a slick talk. This evening I gave the
nominating speech for our candidate for president. I think this thing is in the
bag; because the party opposing us is seemingly very weak.
Well I didn’t get my job to the Lake after all. Price only
took on those people that he had last year. If he had only taken on one man I
would have been the one, because the boys had a preference list made out with
me at the top. I wrote to Eddy Fields’ brother-in-law yesterday for a job in
the mills which he manages in Ponderosa, Oregon. Something might come out of
that, I certainly hope so.
Not much is doing this weekend except that we are having
some rushees down for the two days.
Next weekend we are having our Frosh Picnic, and I am taking
Gay Hamilton to the affair. Oh Boy – Oh Boy.
Don’t bother to send me some white shoe polish, as I have
already bought some. I would like to have those pictures developed though. Everyone
around here is clamoring for them.
That is about all I guess. I will send my laundry with this
letter.
Love,
George
