Hello Family,
Here it is Labor Day and that means another summer has ended. It has not been very profitable for me monetarily, but I have had many wonderful experiences.
Looking at the type of people at home and then comparing them with those of this section of the land does not bring very encouraging prospects to mind. The foreign elements are gradually crowding the old American Stock out of here. The movement can only go in one direction, and that of course is west. What a pleasant outlook we have in the next thirty years. Foreign people are fine, but that class doesn’t come here. These people care nothing for law and order.
Yesterday, we drove way up the North Shore through Evanston and all the fine residential districts. There are some wonderful homes to see. The Northwestern University is there too.
In two days the convention begins, and then we will wind our way home. I wish I could stay for awhile but I must go right down to Eugene. This thing of living out of a suitcase gets more and more monotonous. I shall be glad when I finish college and can park someplace.
Love, George
P.S. Have written two cards to the Grandfolks - don’t know where they disappeared.
