April 18, 1933 - Tuesday

Well I mended books this morning. That is my latest library job. I don’t know how good I am at it. This afternoon I studied much as I hated to the weather was so perfect. George came over this evening.

George's Letter Home:

Dear Family,

The initiation is now over, and I can devote more of my time to a few things that need to be done. Junior Week-End is coming along fine, and I think we will have a fair showing in spite of our shortage of money. I have reserved the room at the hotel, so you may rest assured that you will have some place to stay.

Jim Wells and I are driving back to the convention together this summer. We are going to drive south, across the continent to the Atlantic Coast, and then up to New York. From there we will go to Chicago to the convention and then back by way of Canada. Quite a trip if I may say so. It all depends of course upon whether I will be able to return to school next year. Let us pray that I may.

Ann is fine as can be. She has a nice new blue knit suit in which apparel she looks like the queen of any man’s heart. As Tennyson says, “In the spring a young man’s fancy turns lightly to thoughts of love.”

It is about four o’clock, and I have an appointment to keep. I hate to be stingy with my news, but I am busy as one of those cranberry merchants that you hear so much about.

Love, Brother
