This afternoon after my one o’clock I went up to the library
until about five. Doris Gram, our district governor, is here. Model Chapter
Meeting. Afterwards went to the library again. George came after me about 9:30.
Ann's letter to Mrs. Hibbard:
Ann's letter to Mrs. Hibbard:
Dear Mrs. Hibbard,
That was the most wonderful Thanksgiving dinner I have had
in years. I don’t know when I have had such a huge delicious slice of turkey
breast. The whole dinner was just heavenly. I want to thank you for being so
kind to me and for always making me so welcome. I want to thank Mr. Hibbard,
too, for asking Margie Woodworth to dinner. I was certainly glad to see her
again. She had a good time too and she likes you both so much.
We got back to Eugene about twenty to eleven Thursday night
and got the bus out to the house and we got here before some of the people that
had come in a car. There were a lot of people on the train going back to school
and with everybody talking and feeling so good after Thanksgiving dinners, the
time went very fast and it wasn’t a tedious ride at all.
It was very quiet here this weekend because so many people
were gone for the whole weekend. The two quizzes I had on Friday were still
enough to suit me. It’s a good thing that I got back because they were quizzes
that I couldn’t have made up.
George and I are both very interested in a couple of books
just now. George is reading, “Mutiny on the Bounty” and I am reading “Messer
Marco Polo” by Don Burne and I just love it.
I may see you again before spring vacation. I am considering
coming up to Portland for New Years.
Love, Ann
George's letter to his dad:
Dear Dad,
I will take the cup, V9334, and I will have you do the
lettering up there. I do not know what it is consist of yet, but I shall find
out at the meeting this evening and the information to a post script. After the
whole etching has been completed, I will send you a check for the full amount.
Thank you so much for getting the information on it. Dad.
The trip down here was not bad at all; at least it was
better than riding in a cold automobile. I did all my studying on Friday and
Saturday, and that left me all of Sunday with nothing to do. So I occupied it
with reading a good book.
There is really nothing to tell in this letter, as I have
not been back long enough for news to accumulate. Thank you again for the
information about the cup, and give mother my love.
Love, Brother
P.S. These are the words that we wish to have engraved on
the cup:
Dear Dad,
The deal is off until you hear further from me. Preble is
here and he is going to see if some alumni will donate a cup to the cause.
However, it is my belief that he will not be successful. If that is the case, I
shall write you for the thing in a few days or possibly a week.
George.
