June 2, 1931 - Tuesday

It seems that I have all the luck. Sore heels now. I went to the infirmary this morning but they didn’t do anything for me. Went swimming tonight at ten with Harriet!

George's Letter Home:

Dear Folks,

Boy did we have a dusty ride home the other day. No-foolin, my face and every other part of my person was just black. It only took us two hours and a half to get back here. When we got back I went out to Midway and danced for the rest of the afternoon. That was sure one big and enjoyable weekend for us; now for some studying.

I am just a heck of a good kid, I stopped smoking, studied seven hours yesterday besides all of my classes, and I have started out with a bang today too. This isn’t conceit but just a little line to restore confidence in you, because I am really not doing as bad as you might expect.

Bob Trimm’s mother is coming up and she will be here in time for the picnic. That will be just about right I figure, because then she will be able to meet all of the boys and their families.

Gay and Mary Lou Patrick called me up last night to tell me that they wanted to wish me a very happy birthday. Well they were only a couple of days off, so I thanked them for the thought.

I hope Victoria has a car when she comes up to visit her family. I am not a bit mercenary but it would be very convenient to have a car when I took her out. I sure have a fine picture of myself taking care of that little cousin of mine if she is anything like she used to be. Oh well, maybe I can find her some nice boy to monkey around with for the summer.

This about all except that I am sure waiting impatiently for my two packages; I won’t be so negligent about writing to those who think about me this time either.

Love George

P.S. I just received my presents and thank you so much, no-foolin, they are just great. Thanks again mother.
