I seem to have forgotten to say that I got a letter from
Dick exam week. I answered it last night. I saw Connie and she says MyraBelle
and Fred will be here in the fall. I saw the best show tonight with Jeanne &
Jane.
George's letter home.
George's letter home.
Dear Folks,
You have never seen such beautiful weather, all the girls
are wearing spring ensembles and the boys stand around holding their breath.
Not me though ---no---not me!
Jim Deyendorf and I played handball with two professors today
and beat them two games to one. Gee, they were real good; and we were so tired
afterwards that we could hardly leg it home.
My house bill is fifty-three, ninety-four this month. No
more phone calling for little cotton unless he reverses the charges.
We pledged two keen boys last week. Bob Brim from Glendale,
California, and Stan Haberlach from Clackamas, Oregon. This new Bob makes the
fourth in the lodge.
Paul Austin has had his operation, and I go to visit him
everyday. He feels great, although a little sore. Today the nurse gave Eddy
Field and I a big piece of cake and an orange eggnog apiece. Boy, all nurses
can’t be so bad after all.
This new pledge form California is a Christian Scientist,
and we are going to church Easter, together. Have a happy Easter yourselves and
thanks for the films
Love, George
Jane's Note: Stan Haberlach became one of Dad’s oldest friends and
one that survived well into their elderly years. Stan went through ROTC with
Dad and was also stationed at Ft. Knox during the war when my parents were
there.
