April 20, 1931 - Monday

Big things happening. Howard Ragen asked me to the Beta dance more than a month away & I asked Gene Trudy to Mortar Board Ball. Perfect weather continues. Went swimming last night.

George's letter home.

Dear Mom & Pop,

In regards to your letter of the thirteenth, I remain sincerely yours; but begging to speak of more important matters; I now lay the cold turkey before thine frowning eyes.

Financial report of George, the Greek bootblack:

Assets: None 0000.00

Liabilities:

Accounts payable: Curtis Barnes 1.50

All of which means a net loss of $1.50, with class fees coming up at the end of the month. I don’t have to pay “Varsity” back until the end of the month --- so that is okay; but I would like to have twenty cents to send my washing home.
