I got up at six to study French this morning and tho’t I
knew something about in the quiz but I probably didn’t. In the afternoon I work
on my term paper for Report Writing. At 10:30 took Frat. Exam.
Letter addressed to Miss Annabelle Powell, Alpha Phi House, Eugene, Oregon from R. D. Jervis, 2325 Reading Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio.
Letter from a Philippine friend.
March 9, 1931
Dear Annabelle,
I ask forgiveness. I’ve thought of you often and decided to write hundreds of times but heaven or hell (which ever it is) is paved with good intentions, isn’t it?
Thank you for your very kind Christmas card. I appreciate your thoughtfulness after my long silence.
How do you like college? I wish I were back in school. Working day in and day out gets to be rather monotonous at times but it seems very necessary if one is ambitious. I am still with the Procter & Gamble Co. in the buying dept. and I probably will be as long as they want me. I find my work very interesting and my experiences abroad help a great deal.
Do you hear from Fred & Myrabelle very often? When I think of them I feel very ashamed for not writing to them. It seems that I wrote so many letters while I was away that after I got home I had no more thoughts to put on paper. But I think of my “Philippine” friends often and very pleasant memories drift into my mind very frequently. So, although you may not hear from me, Annabelle, you know that I remember the happy times we had together. Write, please, and tell me all about school and yourself and remember me to your father & mother & sister.
Sincerely
Dick Jervis
P.S. Please excuse the paper but today is the 75th birthday of SAE. D.
Letter is on SAE (a fraternity) letterhead.
